PILAR BAYONA
International Piano Contest

 

The Pilar Bayona International Piano Contest was created in 1983 by the City Hall of Saragossa, and Ibercaja (Savings Bank of Saragossa, Aragón and Rioja) on the pretext of continually restoring homage paid to the pianist celebrated on the anniversary of her death.

The first session was celebrated in December 1983. At first being a biannual event, and then since 1989 it becomes an event every three years.
 In the third edition the Diputación Provincial sponsership was incorporated, and the Government of Aragón in 1998.  Since 1989 the competition was a member of the

World Federation of International Music Competitions.

The last session took place in 2001.
In November 2004 the Competition´s sponsers decided to finish the contest celebration.
